Cornwell Manor Cotswolds Wedding

Cornwell Manor Cotswolds Wedding

Cornwell Manor Cotswolds wedding venue is absolutely beautiful, a hidden gem in the heart of the countryside – couples getting married here get the benefit of an elegant historic Manor House with exclusive use. It has a heated swimming pool (which was made very useful), it's very own chapel and immaculate gardens. Did I mention that it also featured in the film The Holiday? Sadly for the ladies I didn't spot Jude Law.  This was my first time at Cornwell Manor and it quite quickly jumped into the favourites category. I am super pleased to say that I'm already going back in August. I can't wait.

Katherine and Patrick flew over from New York to get married here and I could see why, there is everything you could dream of when choosing a wedding venue. Both families were so friendly and made me feel like part of the wedding from the start. The atmosphere throughout the day was just brilliant! Everyone was so happy and seemed to not have a care in the world! This was evident when Patrick's brother and one of the groomsmen asked if I could capture them jumping in the pool before speeches (see the evidence below)  I’m so pleased I was chosen by Katherine and Patrick to share their day with them and record some lovely moments for two lovely people. I wish them the best in the future and if I ever return to New York please expect a visitor :) Thanks again.

For the photographers out there, this was again all captured with two Nikon D750's using a 24 1.4, 35 1.4 and an 85 1.4. Flash for the first dance was a single on camera Nikon SB910

uk wedding photography workshop

UK Wedding photography Workshop

Our UK wedding photography workshop. The second wedding photography workshop that myself Eirik Halvorsen and Aga Tomaszek have now held together, the first back in Norway in November. With three different personalities and three completely different ways of achieving the same end goal. All three of us were so humbled to sell out twelve places within an hour of ticket release. With attendees coming over from France and Germany.

Day one was spent on the sofa in my house in Cheltenham in the Cotswolds. All three of us giving a presentation on a different topics, followed by a Polish soup made by the super enthausiastic Aga, sadly I think I managed to burn it with my kitchen skills. Day two we went out and about  to do a couple of live shoots with real couples Followed by a live editing talk and off camera flash presentation. Laura and Emily thank you for braving the rain, Kim and Ryan thank you for braving the darkness. Obviously we had a little bit of a social on both evenings sampling some local apples and beers. Those that could stay a little later ended up scaling Leckhampton Hill to practice a few star shots.

A big thank you to Pixellu for their support and offering a free issue of SmartAlbums and SmartSlides to two lucky attendees. Also JPEGmini for their continued support for the UK Wedding Photography Workshop

Here is a lovely review from Steph Kiely Photography

The two days were filled with energy and enthusiasm that I quite literally cannot explain. It was unbelievably engaging.
The live shoots were an inspiring experience. I chose not to shoot during these as I really wanted to see how they worked, what they were looking out for and how their minds were working.

I'm now sat here with a cuppa and I've concluded it has been the best investment I've made so far in my photography development. I'm home feeling confident (most importantly) and I cannot wait to put the things I've learnt about the photography business in to action. I've also made some lovely likeminded friends. I can't wait to see how we all develop these new skills.

So if anybody has any doubts put them aside and take the leap. You won't regret it.

Dan, Eirik and Aga are an inspiring trio who have an incredible amount of energy. They have an enormous amount of passion for their work and are so excited about teaching others. I feel privileged that I could be part of the two days.

Highlights Cotswolds weddings

Here are my highlights for you to enjoy. All I can say is that it is a true honour to photograph weddings. It is so flattering being trusted to capture that special day. I have witnessed and captured all kinds of emotions this year, some that have hit home and taught me the real reason why I do this fantastic job. I’ve learnt so much helping well established photographers. There is always something new to learn, especially with the amazing talent around the world. A special thanks must also go to all the great people I’ve worked alongside this year. Britain really does have talent, from the stylists and planners, the amazing venues, makeup artists, hair stylists, florists and the musicians that keep me entertained through to the end. It’s been a pleasure to work with you all. Oops I almost forgot our wonderful friends, the videographers. Photography this year has sent me on some lovely destinations over the UK and Europe. This year I have been to Germany, Spain, London, and some lovely local Cotswolds weddings, along with trips back home to Wales.

Here’s a little roundup. Just some of mine and Holly's favourites. Enjoy having a browse at my highlights.

clearwell castle wedding

Clearwell Castle Wedding

A stunning Clearwell Castle wedding, a hidden gem set on the edge of the Cotswolds. It certainly is a fairytale wedding venue and so picturesque. Chosen by Michelle and Thierry to celebrate their special day. A super chilled fun loving couple with a wedding party to suit. As always I received a fabulous welcome from the staff at Clearwell Castle, it really is a pleasure working there, that's if I'm allowed to call it work.

Morning preparation, one of my favourite parts of a wedding day, the time you get to witness some nerves mixed with excitement. These two really made me feel welcome and I think it comes with the territory to keep everyone feeling relaxed by just blending in and becoming more of a guest than someone only there to do a job.

The ceremony was great fun with an obvious love between the two which lasted throughout the day. Two people, two families all there to enjoy this special day. Clearwell Castle is literally one of those venues where being a photographer already gives you the perfect backdrop everywhere you look. I could have quite easily kept these two lovely people here for the week to do some portraits. More importantly there was a party that Michelle and Thierry had to attend, with some ace moves going down on the dance floor.

Vendors that helped the day run perfectly were: Emma at Marooned Hairdressers and Gail Armytage preparing the beautiful flowers.

For the photographers out there, I shot this wedding using two Nikon D750's with the 35 1.4 and 85 1.4 lenses. With everything lit using natural light until the first dance, where I used the SB910 on camera.

Michele and Thierry thank you once again for having me along to capture your special day. Wishing you both well in the future.

Ellenborough Park Cheltenham

Set overlooking Cheltenham Racecourse the stunning Ellenborough Park welcomed Becca and Alan for what would be a fun and relaxed day in the Cotswolds. Both families, what can I say? Happy and joyous, celebrating like you should at a wedding. Just another occasion where I struggle to call my job as a wedding photographer, actually working. The day started at Becca's family home and what a welcome, treated like one of the family from the outset. Bridesmaids once again showing men up in the fun ranks. The ceremony followed at the beautiful St. Andrews church in Miserden. Being a winter wedding, we we're welcomed with umbrellas blowing in the wind. It certainly didn't quench the mood that was set during bridal prep.

Alan looking the part in his Naval uniform was waiting patiently for his bride Becca, who looked stunning walking down the aisle. A lovely ceremony was then followed by a little journey onto Ellenborough Park. The evening flowed with some great speeches, with great banter flying around. Then the fun part, chasing guests around the dance floor. These certainly had some top moves. Becca and Alan thank you for the invite to capture your special day, it was an absolute pleasure.

I must give a special mention to Toastmaster Howard Jones who was fantastic with helping the day flow perfectly with humour and authority. Other talented vendors that helped out were: Rob Menzies (photographer), The Flower StudioWedding Days of CheltenhamRegency GroomLavish Hairdressing and Azure Cars.

For the fellow photographers out there, I used two Nikon D750's one with a 35mm 1.4 lens and the other with an 85mm 1.4 for the documentary photos and the 24-70mm 2.8 for the flash work, using an Elinchrom Quadra flash triggered by Pocket Wizard Flex's. Please enjoy the photos below.

The Wood Norton Hotel

Four seasons in one day welcomed me to The Wood Norton Hotel, a fabulous venue in Worcestershire, steeped in history. Clear blue skies to start the day with a heavy storm arriving in the afternoon.  Bridal prep first for me with a fun and super chilled Kelly. Nathan arrived arrived in style,  a yellow New York Taxi  (where these two wonderful people got engaged) from Unique Car Hire.

The ceremony soon followed with some glorious sunshine seeping through to welcome Kelly and her proud Dad down the aisle. A lovely touch to end the ceremony was Nathan's Firemen colleagues escort out towards a glass of champagne. We did manage to get outside before the bad weather came in, to get some photos of the happy couple. Though when the rain did hit Kelly was adamant that she wanted some photos with Nathan on the famous swing. The wellies came on and nothing was going to stop Kelly. What a great sport.

The rest of the day was spent in the lovely Orangery, firstly the wedding breakfast followed by the joyous speeches, with Nathan's best man sharing some great stories with the guests. The fun didn't stop there with these two, my job was made easy just capturing what was put in front of me, I'll just let the photos below do the talking. A special mention must go to Sandie (Planner at The Wood Norton Hotel) I was given free reigns and anything that I needed, Sandie was always on hand.

For the photographers out there. Most of the wedding was photographed using two Nikon D750's one with a 35mm and the other an 85mm lenses. An LED light panel was used for some of the night portrait shots. The cake cut and first dance were captured using a 24/70mm lens plus an SB910 flash gun.

Kelly and Nathan thank you once again for having me along to capture your special day.
