Here is a collection of Hensol Castle wedding photography. Arguably one of South Wales best places to get married. Just 11 miles from the capital city Cardiff. The perfect fairytale wedding venue to make you feel like royalty on your special day. At Hensol you get exclusive use, which is pretty rare for a castle wedding venue. It has recently had all of the bedrooms refurbished, so just a small stroll to bed once the party is over. Hensol Castle is also associated with the Vale Resort. The base and training ground of the Welsh Rugby Union.
I have been lucky enough to photograph at the venue eight times in the past. Everywhere you look lends itself to a beautiful backdrop. You certainly won't be disappointed booking the castle as your wedding venue. Whilst you take a tour before your big day, certainly check out their new Gin Distillery based in the castle. Though do organise a taxi as it's such a fantastic drink and you'll be thirsty for more.
Hensol Castle History
Hensol built as a castellated mansion designed and built in gothic architecture style, dating from the late 17th century. It is situated north of the Clawdd Coch in Pendoylan. The castle was used to film scenes of Whitehall in the 1992 movie Rebecca's Daughters and scenes set in 10 Downing Street for the BBC television Doctor Who episode "Aliens of London".
Now a Grade I listed building, the mansion is something of an archaeological puzzle. The south range came first and is thought to be an unusually early example of the gothic revival in Great Britain. This may have been the work of the English architect Roger Morris. No relation! Though i'd best check haha!
